Muscat: Eid Al Fitr is always a special day for all Muslim families as it is a day of joy, marking an end to a month-long sacrifice.

For Salem Saif Azan Al Bahri and his wife Kwariya Said Abdullah, this Eid Al Fitr is even more special. The couple was blessed with a baby girl on the special day, an extra reason to rejoice.

"My wife gave birth to our third child on the Eid Al Fitr day. It is a true Eid gift for me. Now, I have two reasons to celebrate. One is to mark the conclusion of fasting and the second one is for having a new member in our family," Salem, a PDO employee, said.

"I didn't tell my parents that we will be going to hospital. I kept it a secret. Moreover, the medics were expecting her to deliver the baby either on 27th of July or 1st of August. But it might be the Almighty's decision that she delivered the baby on the festive day itself. And when I called my parents to convey the happy news, they were surprised and excited to hear it," Salem added.

Salem belongs to Wadi Al Mawil village and his wife, an English teacher in a school in the village, delivered the baby in the Al Khoud Badr Al Samaa hospital.

The newborn baby is the third child in Salem's family. "We have a girl child, the eldest one, a boy and now again a girl. It is truly Almighty's blessing to have a kid on Eid. Both the mother and child are healthy," Salem said.

"For Eid, we had slaughtered a goat already. But we have two reasons to celebrate, so we will slaughter one more," Salem said while adding that he will present a special gift to his wife.
