Muscat: A south Indian film song shot in Oman has been topping the television music chart lists for the past one week and was viewed 25,000 times in six days on YouTube.

The song, Randu Pranaya Chandranayi, from the yet to be released Malayalam movie Vellivelichathil features John Brittas and Iniya in the lead roles.

The song is penned by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, composed by Deepankuran and rendered by KS Chithra.

"The song was shot in Yiti, Qantab, Al Bustan, Muttrah Corniche and Fanja. Movie director Madhu Nambiar and cinematographer Sinu Siddarth were able to capture  the untouched beauty of Omani locations. The Indian viewers are bowled over seeing the locations," Renny Johnson, executive producer of the movie, told the Times of Oman.

"The beaches look awesome, the mountains have lovely hues, and the people are very courteous. It is a cameraman's dream location," cinematographer Sinu Siddarth said. Though many Hindi and Tamil moviemakers have caught the beauty of Muscat on camera, albeit for short song sequences, Vellivelichathil became the first foreign language movie to be shot entirely in Oman.

"It was a 21-day long shooting. We were able to capture the beauty of Oman successfully," Renny, who is the executive director at Mezoon Travels and a line producer for 20 Indian movies in Oman, said.

Under the banner of Well Flow Talkies, Vellivelichathil is scripted by well-known Indian writer CV Balakrishnan.

The film also has leading Malayalam actors Lalu Alex, Suraj Venjaramood, Sudheer Karamana, Sreejith Ravi, Tini Tom and Raveendran in prominent roles.

The movie features the life of expatriates and Omanis. It portrays their ups and downs, hopes and distress and happiness and sorrow. "The next song will also be released tomorrow.

We hope it will be also a hit among the music lovers," Renny said while adding that in October, one more Indian movie will be fully shot in Oman. "Talks are on. Soon, the announcement will be made," Renny added.
