Experts to discuss latest technologies for Oman’s railway project

Muscat: Regional and international experts from the railway sector will converge here to discuss and debate the Sultanate's rail sector and the best practices in the industry at the Rail Exhibition & Conference to be held on August 20 and 21 at Grand Hyatt Muscat.

The summit, themed 'connecting Oman to the GCC region,' will be attended by more than hundred participants, who include exhibitors, delegates and sponsors.

The two-day forum, which will be inaugurated by J. S. Mukul, the Indian ambassador to Sultanate on August 20, will address the latest project developments and opportunities, as well as in-country value initiatives across the Sultanate's rail sector, said a press release from the organisers.

The exhibition will also review regional and global best practices for ensuring the successful delivery of capital expenditure projects, as well as promoting local manufacturing, services and talent development in Oman.

Global experts

The topics will be presented  by experts like Saud Nasser Mansoor Al Khusaibi, director-general for Standards and Metrology, Oman's Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Mohammed Al Dhuhli, director-general of governance and advisory division at Information Technology Authority Oman; Loay Ghazaleh, undersecretary advisor on major infrastructure and PPP, Bahrain Ministry of Works; Edwin Lammers, executive commercial manager Sohar Industrial Port Company; and Ahmed Al Zaabi, board member, Oman Road Safety Association.
The conference will be chaired by Eng. Zeina Nazer, secretary general, ITS Arab, and managing director of Innova Consulting, London, United Kingdom.

The summit will aspire to give an insight into the various reports formulated worldwide by some of the finest rail experts, discussing the latest technologies to be incorporated to streamline all upcoming rail projects across Oman.

The conference will offer a perfect gateway to reach a highly focused and prequalified customer-base to provide excellent networking opportunities. The upcoming railway projects will open up significant employment opportunities across the Sultanate, with the government looking to employ more Omanis to operate the railway network.

Case studies
There will be intensive networking and business meeting sessions with focused clientele. The conference will see interactive sessions, thought-provoking debates, real life case studies and panel discussions which will be highlighted the current trends and challenges being faced by the local market with respect to rail.
