Muscat: Ninety-five infiltrators of different nationalities who had entered the Sultanate illegally were arrested from various wilayats by the Royal Oman Police (ROP), in collaboration with other military and security departments last week.

The ROP also deported 221 infiltrators after taking the necessary legal action, in coordination with their respective embassies.

66 held for theft
The ROP has arrested 66 people for being involved in 73 cases of thefts in various governorates of the country.

It also took legal action against them. ROP has lauded the role played by Omanis and expatriates for helping in unravelling these crimes. It also stressed the need for the people to observe precaution to protect their properties.

An official source said the anti-narcotics directorate followed up on information about an accused smuggling Khat into Oman. After an investigation, the accused was arrested and 1,700 packets of Khat were recovered from him.
