Omani spikers post thrilling victory at Youth Olympics

Muscat: Omani duo of Ahid Khalid Al Sahi and Samiei Al Hammadi recorded a thrilling three-set win over St. Vincent and the Grenadines' team of Rodell Christy Fraser and Delshum Kezron Welcome for their second victory in the beach volleyball competition of the ongoing Youth Olympics Games in Nanjing, China yesterday.

According to information received here, Ahid and Samiei defeated their rivals by a 21-18, 18-21, 16-14 scoreline for their second win in the six-team group.

The Omanis, who in their previous matches lost to Uruguay, Kazakhstan and Finland, earlier received a walkover from a Nigerian pair.

In the six-team group, Oman finished in fourth place with seven points but failed to make it to the round of 12.Meanwhile on Thursday, Omani girl Mazoon Al Alawi failed to match her personal and season's best time of 12.51 seconds while taking part in the 100m heats.

Running in Heat 1, she clocked 12.61 seconds. The Omani lass is scheduled to take part in the 100m Final C today.
