Muscat: Indian School Darsait celebrated its 20 glorious years of success in moulding the next generation with great pomp and gaiety at a grand function organised in their school auditorium on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.

The chief guest for the occasion was J. S. Mukul, ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman and the guest of honour was Tonny George Alexander, chairman, board of directors, Indian schools in Oman.

The event was marked by the felicitation of the former presidents of the school management committees whose vision had aided the school in scaling great heights in 20 years and the recognition of senior teachers who had rendered 15 or more years of meritorious service to the institution, along with the core team members of  'Nabet' who had worked tirelessly for the school accreditation process and also the members from BMS Solutions Dubai whose support had enabled the school in effective implementation of the school management system, Digital Campus.

The highlight of the evening was the launching of the new school website and the online parent portal through the school management system Digital Campus. Earlier in October 2012, Omanakuttan had received the 'Nabet', QCI certificate for quality school governance from Shiela Dikshit, chief minister of Delhi at a function organised at New Delhi. Mukul congratulated the school managing committee and the staff for imparting quality education to the Indian expatriate community over the last 20 years. He stressed that success is not an end in itself but an ongoing process.

Launching the new website of the school and the online parent portal in the school management system Digital Campus, Tonny  Alexander lauded the school management committee for pioneering the digitisation of school campus.

The digitisation of administration and academic work through the software package Digital Campus has established connectivity between the school administration, teachers, students, parents, alumni and mentors through a common ICT platform.

The entire processes and procedures of the school like, admission, issue of library books, daily attendance, maintenance of scholastic and co-scholastic assessment records, result processing and analysis have been made easy and effective. The software will now enable the parents to easily access online profile of their wards, communication from their wards' teachers and the grades and remarks obtained by their wards in scholastic and co-scholastic areas and fee payment status.

The event began with a traditional invocation dance, Dashavatar that followed a floral welcome to the chief guest and guest of honour with a mesmerising percussion performance on Chenda and the lighting of the lamp. Dr Subhash B. Nair, officiating principal accorded a warm welcome to the assembled guests.

Omanakkuttan, president of SMC enumerated the path of success covered by the school that started in 1992 with a humble beginning and has become one of the sought after institutions in the capital area. He thanked the former management committees and school administrators for all their contributions to the school. He also thanked the stake holders of the school such as the students, parents and teachers.

The cultural programme that enthralled the audience was performances by the school choir and the school rock band Soul Burn with a dance finale Acceptance.
