Muscat: Al Salam Club will take on Baushar Club at home in the opening of His Majesty's Cup round of 16 this month.
The draw was held at Oman Football Association (OFA) under the auspices of its vice-chairman Saleh Al Farsi, yesterday. In what could be the toughest match, former champions Al Nasr will host Suwaiq.
"That could be a decisive match because both are strong teams and it would be interesting to watch as well," said Ahmed Al Habsi, tournament committee chairman said.
In the other matches, Mudhaibi will host Al Shabab while Khabourah will play Al Nahda, Al Tale'ea will meet Seeb, Salalah will take on Sur, Aroubah will play Samail and Dhofar will play Musannah. The matches will be played from December 24-25.
"We are trying to make the matches as interesting as possible," said Al Farsi. "We have some new teams this time in last 16 and it is a good thing for the game as well," he pointed out. Interestingly no matches will be played in Muscat. "Seeb will be playing away match so there are no matches in Muscat area. It would have been interesting to have few teams from here," he added.
