Royal Orders to build roads

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has given Royal Orders to build a number of internal roads in different parts of the Sultanate's governorates under the supervision of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources with a total length of 1,765 kilometres.

The roads will be built during the current Five-Year Plan 2011-2015.Informing this, Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Shuhi, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, said that the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said embody the Royal support and care accorded by His Majesty to fulfil the needs of the citizens by implementing development projects, service utilities and infrastructure projects, with special priority to road construction projects.

Roads have become an important feature of modern life as they provide stability, he said, while adding that the municipal work  has become one of the pillars of development which the Sultanate seeks to achieve to ensure prosperity for the present and future generations.
