MGS Family Quiz records an amazing success

Muscat: Muscat Gujarati Samaj, the Gujarati Wing of Indian Social Club recently organised a family quiz competition at the ISM hall. The MGS Family Quiz programme witnessed an enthusiastic participation of close to 25 teams and started off with an exciting preliminary round comprising 26 questions, innovatively presented in a power-point format.

Eventually, six top teams from the preliminary round moved into the enthralling finals which comprised seven power-packed rounds which raised the intensity of quizzing to a new high.

The first six rounds in the finals were themed around films and music, Oman-India, sports, geography, identify who is it and general knowledge. This was followed by a rapid-fire buzzer round comprising 18 questions which proved to be decisive in distinguishing the winners of the challenging MGS Family Quiz competition.

Taking the excitement to a pinnacle, the final round ended with a tie for the third position but the astute quiz master was ready with few tie-breaking questions to break the dead-lock. Eventually, the winners of the MGS Family Quiz-2012 emerged to be the team of Niti Rajda, Kriti Rajda and Yash Asher followed closely in the first runners-up position by the team of Harshad Shah, Parag Shah and Arjav Kothary and the second runners-up position (after the tie) was bagged by the team of Manoj Shah, Tejal Shah and Ishita Shah. Muscat Gujarati Samaj gave away high value gifts as well as trophies to all members of the top three winning teams.

Sanjay Ved, financial controller of Al Mudhish graced the occasion and also gave away the awards to all the winners at the end of the event. The event was conceptualised, planned and executed by a savvy quiz master Manoj Ranade who was ably supported by Darshan Palicha on the presentations, Paru Negandhi, Kala Ved and Snehal Jani as scorers and Urvi Patel managing the time keeping.
