Lord Mayor of London visits Bank Nizwa

Muscat: Bank Nizwa, the first Islamic bank in the Sultanate, welcomed Lord Mayor of London Alderman Roger Gifford to its head office located at Shatti Al Qurum this week.

Gifford who began his official visit to Oman on January 13, 2013 has a keen interest in the global banking and financial sector. He was accompanied by the British Ambassador Jamie Bowden and top business delegates from the UK.
The senior officials at Bank Nizwa took the dignitaries through the journey of Bank Nizwa, right from its inception to its present day operations and escorted them to the bank's branch to witness the day to day workings of the Islamic model of banking in the Sultanate.

Commenting upon Lord Mayor's visit, Dr Jamil El Jaroudi, CEO, Bank Nizwa said, "It was indeed a great honour to welcome Lord Mayor of London to Bank Nizwa and it gave us immense pleasure to showcase our state-of-the-art banking systems and software.

"Bank Nizwa has launched a new era of Islamic banking in Oman and we were proud to walk him through our Shariah-compliant products and innovative services such as account opening through identity card readers and speedy issuance of personalised ATM card and cheque book."

Lord Mayor witnessed first-hand the expertise with which Bank Nizwa is delivering its services and commended the management and the staff on their commitment and efforts directed towards taking the banking industry and the economy of the Sultanate to new heights of success.
