Bahrain to host Women’s Games

Manama: Bahrain has stepped up its preparations to host the Third GCC Women's Sports Games, scheduled to take place from March 3 to 13. Supreme Council for Women member and head of the Women's Sports Committee at the Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa chaired the first preparatory meeting as a build-up to Bahrain embracing the third edition of this regional event.Shaikha Hayat welcomed the committee members and lauded the co-operation of the national sports association taking part in the 10-day Games, and their tremendous efforts being exerted to ensure this event becomes a great success.

Representatives of nine sports associations attended the meeting, namely football, volleyball, martial arts, shooting, basketball, disabled, table tennis, athletics and bowling.At the meeting, Shaikha Hayat was briefed by representatives of the national sports associations on all arrangements made by the organising committee which are related to the sporting disciplines and schedule of the complete programme.

The organisers also looked into the venues of all competitions as well as the tournament logo, mascot, medals patterns and certificates to be given away to the delegations taking part.Shaikha Hayat requested all sports federations officials to Inventorall their private needs and requirements, including training camps, sports hears that will be finalized in the next meeting.

The meeting was also attended by BOC sports affairs chief executive Noaman Al Hassan, International Affairs executive coordinator Mohammed Al Zayed, working committees heads – ceremonies committee's Fajer Jassim, Hamad Al Baker of housing and hospitality committee, Hamad Buhiji of finance committee besides women's sports committee members Dr Aisha Al Amer and Dr Maryam Mirza. Shaikha Hayat chaired the meeting.
