Oman clinch tent pegging gold in Sudan

Muscat: Oman clinched gold in the qualifiers for the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) World Cup, according to information received from Khartoum on Friday.
The qualifiers is being held in the capital city of Sudan until Saturday, where Oman riders will be testing their skills in the competition with spears.
Eight teams including Oman, Yemen, Russia, Qatar, Pakistan, the United States, Jordan and hosts Sudan are competing for spots in the World Cup.
In evening competitions the national team notched the first place after clashing with Jordan in the medal decider in the sword competition.
Oman and Jordan finished on equal points of 106.5 with Oman emerging on top with deciding points count. Sudan with 106 points clinched the bronze.
Oman was represented in the sword event by riders Hamoud bin Mohammed Aldgesha, Nasser bin Rashid Al Siyabi, Safwan bin Zaid Ma'amari and Ali bin Khamis Al Balushi.
Earlier Yemen stared off well but fell back in the following rounds.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman Al Sadiq Al Mahdi of Sudan won the gold in the individual competition with spears, while Jordan'sn Hossam Fayyad and Sudan's Mohammed Ali Shabelle won the silver and bronze respectively.
Saturday will see four medals being decided and Oman is confident of winning the honours on the final day.
Oman's national team members are Hamoud bin Mohammed Aldgesha, Nasser bin Rashid Al Siyabi, Safwan bin Zaid Al Maamari, Ali bin Khamis Al Balushi and Yusuf bin Rashid
Ma'amari.
The team is coached by Mansour bin Ali Mahrooqi and assisted by Mohammed bin Juma Al Maliki.
