Oman's industrial investment topped OMR24b in 2014

Muscat: Total registered investments in the Sultanate’s industrial sector stood at more than OMR24,424,243,000 by the end of 2014, with an increase of OMR1,000,000,000 in comparison with 2013, according to the Statistical Yearbook issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Statistics showed upward trend in total registered investments in the industrial register to OMR23,494,823,000 in 2013, compared to OMR23,281,077,000 in 2012.
The number of industrial establishments registered also rose to 2,518 in 2014 compared to 2,350 in 2013 and 2,206 in 2012.
By the end of 2014, the activity of chemicals, chemical products, petroleum products, plastics and glass industry accounted for the bulk of investments, reaching OMR5,977,436,000, followed by metal products with an investment of OMR2,905,357,000.
The total volume of investments in the mining of non-mineral raw materials products and basic metal industries amounted to OMR2,110,351,000 each.
In terms of the legal entity of registered industrial facilities in the industrial register by the end of 2014, limited liability companies accounted for the largest number, with 878 facilities, numbered up from 818 companies in 2013, followed by individual property with 823 facilities, up from the level of 775 companies in the year 2013, and limited liability companies (subject the law of foreign investment), with 308 facilities in all, compared to 272 in the year 2013. -ONA
