Oman Triathlon: Suleiman triumphs at Al Sifa Off-Road Triathlon

Muscat: Omani triathlete Suleiman Al Alawi took the top honours at Al Sifa Off-Road Triathlon organised by Oman Triathlon Team here recently.
In the event that included a 500m swimming section, 15km mountain biking and 4km running, Suleiman clocked one hour, 20 minutes and 47 seconds to emerge the overall winner.
Oliver Boast timed 1:20:42 to take the second place ahead of Mike Hart, who had to settle for third place in 1:24:12.
Sally Hart completed the swim, cycle and run sections in 1:34:05 to take the top place in the ladies category while finishing seventh overall.
The organisers, meanwhile, said: "Al-Sifa Off-Road Triathlon was a success and the next edition is going to be bigger and better."
The organisers also thanked Race Director Paul Vlaarkamp for a great effort in designing an 'amazing race course'.
"The rainy weekend and the risky drive in the rain to Al Sifa reduced the number of participants, and there were fears that the event might event get canceled , but because of the brave triathletes who came to registration table , it was difficult to stop the race from going!" the organisers said.
The organisers also thanked Global Edventures (Gecko Camp) and the marshalls Michel, Hillary, Irene, Frans, Andrea, Marko, Chantal and Pritte for the success of the event.
