Rohm presents classical ballet evening

Muscat: The Royal Opera House Muscat continues to embrace creative talents and world-class performances as it will host one of the classiest ballet troupes worldwide, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, at the Opera House for two consecutive days starting from 7th February 2013.

Since 2001, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet has performed annually at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and has toured both nationally and internationally. Till date, the company has over fifty ballets in its repertoire including works by Ms. Farrell's mentors George Balanchine, Maurice Béjart, and Jerome Robbins. In June 2010, the company participated in the Kennedy Center's Ballet across America II festival.

Founded by the 20th century ballerina Suzanne Farrell, the Suzanne Farrell Ballet at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. has evolved from an educational program of the Kennedy Center to one of the top US  ballet companies.

At the Royal Opera House Muscat, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet will showcase four sweepingly marvellous ballets, originally choreographed by the famous George Balanchine, named "Danses Concertantes" (music composed by Igor Stravinsky), "Intermezzo"/Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet" (music composed by Johannes Brahms), "Valse-Fantaisie" (music composed by Mikhail Glinka)  , and "Agon" (music composed by Igor Stravinsky).

Christina Scheppelmann, Director General of the Royal Opera House Muscat, said: "It is a privilege for the Royal Opera House Muscat to host the classy ballet troupe, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet who's elegant and classy moves will inspire the audience. The show will be conducted by Leif Bjaland, one of the most experienced and dynamic American ballet conductors, who has been referred to by renowned critics as "a young sculptor in sound" and "one of the key figures in the development of the New World Symphony, Florida. The show will indeed be remembered by the audience. "

Featuring also the outstanding Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra a high level orchestra with a  63 year tradition which has made also successful appearances in the United States of America, Cyprus, Turkey, Japan and  South Korea.
