Grand Mufti to open Oman Supreme Court premises

Muscat: As delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, the Sultanate's Grand Mufti will open on Wednesday the Supreme Court premises.
Within His Majesty the Sultan's direct and constant care of the judicial system and great keenness to give it its due status, His Majesty the Sultan ordered the construction of a premises for the Supreme Court.
The premises should be consistent with the Sultanate's future vision by providing it with full integrated and advanced infrastructure that support the judicial work and exemplify the status of the Supreme Court at the judicial system.
The six-storey new premises, located in Al Ghubrah, opposite to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, comprises offices for the judges, the Court secretariat and the Public Prosecution. The premises is provided with rooms for waiting, meetings and deliberations, in addition to four rooms dedicated for judgment reading out.
These rooms are provided with computers, screens and other digital systems that are directly connected to the building utilities and that can be electronically connected for live transmission with the Higher Institute for Judiciary to enable the judges to follow the judgments of the Supreme Court.
The premises has two halls that are provided with all electronic systems and facilities, as well as the TV linkage system and live transmission. It has also a library that accommodates 10,000 books, in addition to waiting rooms for the lawyers, litigants and visitors.
