Small, medium enterprises get productivity tech tips at Riyada, Microsoft Oman event

Muscat: A workshop on how Omani small and medium-sized enterprises, (SMEs) can become acquainted with the latest technological innovations, and what role technology can play in equipping them with the tools to increase their productivity, was organised by The Public Authority for SMEs Development (Riyada) and Microsoft Oman.
Experts from Microsoft and its regional partners delivered presentations on topics, such as ‘Leverage the Power of the Cloud’, ‘Productivity Toolkit for SMEs’ and ‘Employability for SMEs’. Representatives of the attending SMEs also had a chance to present their business portfolios to Microsoft and other major participating companies, in a bid to explore partnership opportunities.
Encouraging attendance
“We are thrilled to see so many SMEs and entrepreneurs attending the workshop and showing interest in exploring new technologies to boost their businesses and taking the SME sector in Oman to the next level,” noted Khalifa bin Said Al Abri, Riyada’s Chief Executive Officer.
He reiterated Riyada’s commitment to supporting Omani SMEs and entrepreneurs, a sector that is playing a crucial role in the Sultanate’s national economy.
“We at Microsoft have a long-standing commitment to SMEs, through our support to the Oman National Plan and GCC policies aimed to empower and position SMEs as engines of future economic growth, by leveraging innovative cloud offerings,” said Sherif Tawfik, Country General Manager for Microsoft Oman and Bahrain.
Participants in the Riyada and Microsoft ‘Empower Omani SMEs through technology’ workshop were exposed to the latest collaborative solutions, cloud computing offerings and more.
The workshop was held as part of a recently signed agreement between Riyada and Microsoft Oman, with the aim to empower Omani startups and SMEs through technology.
