Entrepreneur’s Conclave grand finale to be held in Oman

Muscat: The stage is set for the grand finale of the Entrepreneur’s Conclave 2016 for young entrepreneurs in the Sultanate on May 30.
“The Entrepreneur’s Conclave was formed in 2014 to support the young entrepreneurs of Oman by providing them with a platform to build relationships and do business,” Zameel Ameen, founder and director of Experiment Events, which is organising the conclave, told the Times of Oman (TOO).
“It will also offer a networking arena for individuals and organisations involved in all types of SMEs,” he added.
With Ooredoo Business acting as presenting sponsor, the conclave is poised to provide young entrepreneurs, who have been in business for the past 18 months to five years, with a helping hand.
According to Ameen, the event is aimed at finding promising entrepreneurs in the nation, and simultaneously identifying key mentors from a list of successful entrepreneurs from within the country and the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council), who will together participate in a competition to learn, survive, and grow.
The first phase, ‘Learn,’ included a case study held in Jebel Sifah on May 6 that drew entrepreneurs, who faced real-time situations on managing an organisation while facing critical issues in high-pressure situations.
The second phase, ‘Survive,’ saw entrepreneurs taking part in a diving exercise as per personal consent on May 7, which represented the frequent challenges that the entrepreneurs regularly face.
The third phase, ‘Grow,’ includes a workshop, which took place on May 14, which prepared the entrepreneurs on how to effectively represent themselves at the grand final event taking place in Public Authority of Civil Aviation’s multipurpose hall on Monday evening.
“This initiative will help create an open site for interaction and experience exchange between young entrepreneurs and authorities from successful business structures,” said Ameen.
To be part of this initiative, participants have to register online and explain and submit details of their existing business agenda.
Final candidates are selected after a thorough screening process by a jury, which will thereafter team up with established senior entrepreneurs in Oman for a case study solving exercise and a diving competition.
During the grand finale, candidates will showcase their unique business plan before a select jury, critics’ panel, comprising industry leaders and senior entrepreneurs.
“The critics’ panel will hear the entrepreneurs and they will give their opinion, which will help them move on in their business,” Ameen said.
According to him, the winner will be one of the ambassadors for the next year’s conclave.
Speaking about his plan for the next year’s conclave, Ameen said, “We are looking for new adventures and also at opening up the competition to the Middle East and we are talking to small and medium organisations in Dubai, Kuwait and Qatar.”
According to Ameen, Experiment Events has completed five successful years and is planning many other events in the coming months. They have organised many car launches and corporate events for top brands in the Sultanate in the last five years.
The third edition of the Entrepreneurs Conclave’s “Dive in your Destiny” event is presented by Ooredoo business, in partnership with Sabco Media, with Sharakah as a strategic partner, and is powered by Startup Oman. For more information, visit: www.entreprenuersconclave.com.
