Petroleum Development Oman fetes its pensioners

Muscat: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has honoured its pensioners at events held across Oman to celebrate their achievements and update them on company developments.
PDO Managing Director Raoul Restucci and External Affairs and Value Creation Director Abdul-Amir Abdul-Hussein Al Ajmi reported progress on key objectives, such as the creation of 7,200 job, training and redeployment opportunities for Omanis last year, the drive to raise the oil production plateau to 600,000 barrels per day by 2019 and intensified business efficiency and cost control efforts.
About 500 retirees attended gatherings in Muscat, Fahud and Marmul, where various topics such as improvements in medical care and financial support for pensioners were discussed.
Restucci said, “The annual gatherings are an excellent opportunity for PDO to thank the pensioners for their contribution – which will never be forgotten – and outline key developments.
“Many of our pensioners continue to play an active and loyal role in our company and have a wealth of wisdom and insight that can help us with our current challenges.
“At the same time, we remain as determined as ever to provide them with high-quality services and benefits so that they can continue to enjoy healthy, happy and rewarding retirements.”
Among the benefits available to retirees are the use of a new state-of-the-art medical centre at Mina Al Fahal that boasts outpatient clinic facilities, offices for 10 doctors, and accident and emergency, occupational health and physiotherapy departments.
The facility also has improved services, introducing in-house secondary healthcare in specialities such as cardiac and endocrine/diabetic care under the supervision of top Omani external consultants.
Other benefits include enhanced pension arrangements and no-cost, interest-free loans. PDO is also launching a dedicated section for pensioners on its new website, to make it easier for them to access support and information.
Discussions are also ongoing about the establishment of a new network for retirees, enabling them to communicate their views, queries and issues of importance, as well as to stay in touch with their friends and colleagues on a more frequent basis.
Restucci said, “We value the support and contribution of our pensioners. This partnership is vital as has been their contribution, loyalty and dedication over so many years.”
