Oman's Majlis Al Shura reviews budget, ninth five-year plan

Muscat: Majlis Al Shura office yesterday reviewed several issues referred by the Government, including the Council of Ministers’ reply to visions and remarks made by the Council of Oman on the 9th five-year development plan (2016-2020), and the budget for the fiscal year 2016.
The meeting reviewed several ministerial replies, including that from the Minister of Manpower, Minister of Tourism, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, and the reply of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW).
The meeting also discussed many oversight methods and tools, including the request by one of the members of Majlis Al Shura to the PAEW Chairman about lack of water networks, the request of one of the members of Majlis on the development of Jabal Shams, which included the development of the sectors of agriculture and livestock, tourism, roads, housing, and the regional municipalities in the mountain, as well as developing and strengthening government efforts to increase economic and social returns.
The Majlis Al Shura office reviewed several letters and memoranda from some councils and international organisations.
The 24th regular meeting was chaired by Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.
