6,248 animals slaughtered during Eid-Al-Fitr festival in Oman

Muscat: Authorities report that 6,248 livestock have been slaughtered in municipal slaughterhouses in South Asharqiyah Governorate during the Eid-Al-Fitr holidays.
Also, more than one week ago, the Directorate of Municipalities in South Asharqiyah announced that slaughterhouses in the governorate were ready to meet the growing demand of the public during Eid-Al-Fitr, while guaranteeing that the meat is safe for human consumption.
Additionally, 1,005 livestock were recorded to have been slaughtered in the municipal slaughterhouse in Sur, including 29 cows, 257 goats and 719 sheep.
Of note, the Directorate of Municipalities in the Governorate destroyed 105 kilograms of meat which has been declared inedible after veterinary inspection.
It was also reported that Jalan Bani Bu Ali municipal slaughterhouse recorded 2,185 livestock slaughtered during Eid, which included 12 camels, 127 cows, 442 goats and 1,604 sheep. Also, 34 kilograms of meat were destroyed.
At the Jalan Bani Bu Hassan slaughterhouse, authorities reported that 609 livestock were slaughtered, including 7 cows, 25 goats and 577 sheep, while 152 kilograms of meat were discarded after being found unsafe for human consumption. At Al Kamil Wal Wafi slaughterhouse some 1,830 livestock were slaughtered, including 18 camels, 47 cows, 450 goats and 1,315 sheep, while there were no reports of contaminated or unhealthy meat.
Masirah Municipality monitored the slaughterhouses in the wilayat, where 619 livestock were recorded slaughtered.
Three of the animals were camels, while only one cow was slaughtered, while an additional 276 goats and 339 sheep were slaughtered. After veterinary inspections, 8 kilograms of unhealthy meat were destroyed.
