Tennis: Oman's Fatma Al Nabhani misses out on doubles crown

Muscat: Fatma Al Nabhani's campaign in the $10,000 Saint Gervais Mont Blanc Women's Open Tennis Tournament ended in the final of the doubles event.
According to information received here, Oman's international tennis star Fatma Al Nabhani and her French partner Estelle Cascino, who were seeded fourth, lost to top seeded Australian pair of Abbie Myers and Ellen Perez 7-6 (5) , 6-2 in the final.
The Omani-French combo fought valiantly in the first set, but after losing the tie-break, the duo were overwhelmed by the Australians.
Earlier in the semifnals, Fatma and Estelle eased past the second seeded US-Russia combine of Chiara Scholl and Marina Shamayko 6-2, 6-2, while the Australian duo struggled past Colombians Maria Paulina Perez-Garcia and Paula Andrea Perez-Garcia, especially after being extended to the deciding third set.
Abbie and Ellen won the match 3-6, 6-3, 10-5.
If Fatma did well in the doubles, here outing in the singles event did not go beyond the second round, where she lost to Switzerland's Chiara Frapolli 3-6. 6-3, 6-1.
From here, Fatma will leave for Belgium, where she is top seeded again in the $10,000 Maaseik Women's Surtegno Open 2016 tournament.
The Maaseik Tournament will be begin on July 25 and climax on July 31.
