Wanasinghe bowls Sinha to win against Arrow Overseas

Muscat: Skipper Dileepa Wanasinghe, with bowling figures of 4 for 19 off 4 overs, helped Sinha register a 34-run win against Arrow Overseas in a Khimji Ramdas-sponsored Intermediate Cup T20 match played during the weekend at Municipality Ground No. 4 at Al Amerat. Invited to bat, Sinha scored at a rate of 8.5 runs per over to end their quota of 20 overs on 170 for the loss of 4 wickets. Major contributions came from opening batsman K.G. Nalaka, 38; Manujaya S., 30; and Nalinda Kularatne, 27; while Dileepa Wanasinghe remained unbeaten on 27. Prasobh picked up 3 wickets, giving away 30 runs off 4 overs.

Set a target of 171 for a win, Arrow Overseas was bowled out for 136 off 19.2 overs, with opening batsman Praveen Kumar scoring 47 and Praveen P. chipping in with 20. Prathapa Sithira lent valuable support to Dileepa by ending with figures of 3 for 24 off 4 overs.

ISC win

In another Khimji Ramdas-sponsored Intermediate Cup T20 knockout tournament played at Ground No.1, Indian Social Club (ISC) registered a 65-run win against Renaissance.
Electing to bat, ISC amassed 188 for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of the 20th over, thanks to a 90-run third-wicket partnership between Dhruvin Shetty, 64, and Bishen Bhalla, 42. Shreyas Malhotra, batting at No. 7, chipped in with an unbeaten 21. Younus Shafi and Munir Hussain bagged 2 wickets each, conceding 29 and 30 runs, respectively.

Renaissance, in response, could only muster 123 for the loss of 8 wickets off the 20 stipulated overs. Opening batsman Prashant M., 29; Younus Shafi, 27 Not Out; and Mohammed Yakhub, 22, made valuable contributions. The bowling honours were shared by Ansar Ansari, 3 for 22, and Shreyas Malhotra, 2 for 13, off 4 overs each.

OCT Muscat 'B' lose

Excellent Electricals trounced OCT Muscat 'B' by 76 runs in a Khimji Ramdas-sponsored Junior Cup T20 knockout match played during the morning at the OAC III Ground at Seeb.
Put in to bat, Excellent Electricals were reeling at 12 for the loss of 3 wickets off 3 overs but managed to get to 164 off the 18.1 overs, thanks to a 97-run fourth-wicket partnership between Shine N.V., 56, and Muthumurugan, 38. Abid Ali, with figures of 3 for 37, headed the bowling department with Abdul Aziz Qader, 2 for 3; Abdul Qader, 2 for 23; and Essa
Mohammed, 2 for 25.

With a required run rate of more than 8 runs per over, OCT Muscat 'B' was bundled out for a paltry 88 off 19.5 overs, with only Abid Ali making a useful 46. None of the other batsmen made any noteworthy contributions. The bowlers to cause the disaster were Binu Varghese, 3 for 11, and Muthumurugan, 3 for 13—off 4 overs each—and Suseendran S., 2 for none off 1.5 overs.

MARH win

Moosa Abdul Rahman Hassan (MARH) recorded a narrow 9-run win against Galfar in a Khimji Ramdas-sponsored T20 Intermediate knockout tournament played in the afternoon at the same venue as the morning session.

Electing to field, Galfar did well to contain MARH to 148 for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of the stipulat
