Gulf Tent Pegging in Salalah

Salalah: The Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF) is organising the Gulf Tent Pegging Championship as part of the Salalah Tourism Festival and under the patronage of Minister of Civil Service Sheikh Khalid bin Omar bin Said Al Marhoon.
Teams from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and hosts Oman are competing for the Gulf supremacy.
The championship, which is being held through joint cooperation between OEF and Ministry of Sports Affairs, is sponsored by Raysut Cement, Bank Muscat, Bank Dhofar, Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Company, Salalah Mills and Sama Digital Media.
All international rules will be applied during the tournament, which began on Monday. The competitions, which will have events like Individual Lance, Individual Sword, Team Lance, Team Sword, Lemon cutting, Half section (Pairs), Single (Indian) file, will conclude on July 29 with chief guest being Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar.
The draw for the championship was held on Sunday and the teams were paraded.
Oman team comprises of coach Mansour bin Ali Mahrooqi, assistant coach Mohammed bin Juma Al Maliki, riders Hilal bin Hassan Al Balushi, Safwan bin Zaid Maamari, Ali bin Khamis Al Balushi, Hamad bin Nasser Al Riyami, Youssef bin Rashid Al Maamari.
The Saudi team is led by coach and rider Khaled Mubarak Suwaiket and other members are Hamad Al Qahtani and Rashid Hamad Al Marri, Mohammed Al Dossari and Muhannad Hadi Waller Leshan.
Qatar's coach is Ali bin Saleh Al Balushi and team manager is Abdullah al-Dossari, while the riders are Fahad Al Kuwari, Ali Hilal Anzi, Mohammed Sultan, Jassim Bouhdod, Rashid Fahad Al Dosari and Abdullah Al Dosari.
The UAE team is led by coach Amir Munawar and the riders are Khaled Issa Al Yasi, Isa Abdul Majid, Saad Mohammed Ibrahim, Yaqub Hassan Al Balushi.
Two teams from Royal Cavalry and Sultanate of Oman Armoury is also taking part.
