Oman weather: Heavy rain predicted in Dhofar

Muscat: Heavy rain will hit Dhofar region from Wednesday, according to the Oman Meteorology Department.
According to its recent forecast, heavy rain will hit Dhofar from Wednesday and include thunderstorms during Thursday and Friday.
“Isolated rain occasionally thundershowers associated with fresh wind over Al-Hajar Mountains and adjacent willayat and desert areas of the Dhofar governorate during Thursday afternoon,” the recent forecast says.
It also predicted clear skies over the rest of the Sultanate in the coming days.
“Rest of the Sultanate will not witness any rain over the next week,” according to a senior meteorologist at Accuweather.com
Dhofar governorate is receiving exceptional rain this Khareef season, according to reports.
Salalah station has registered 48.5mm rain from June 21 to July 18 compared to 4mm recorded during the same period in the last year.
Records of the Khareef Salalah Survey 2016, the number of visitors to Dhofar between June 21 and July 19 stood at 134,779.
