HSBC appoints chief executive officer for Mena region

Muscat: Georges Elhedery has been appointed chief executive officer for HSBC's Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region and will join the board of HSBC Bank Middle East (HBME) as deputy chairman with immediate effect, subject to relevant regulatory approvals.
Elhedery joined HSBC in 2005 where he was global head of structured rates, then global deputy head of rates in global markets. He subsequently moved to Dubai in 2010, initially as head of global markets, Mena, then as head of markets and capital financing, Mena, before taking on his current role as head of global banking and markets, Mena, in June 2014.
Previously, Elhedery worked for Goldman Sachs in London, and Banque Paribas in Tokyo.
