Meeting organised to start ferry service on Khasab-Dubai route

Muscat: A joint meeting between the National Ferries Company (NFC) and the executive management of the Rashid Port was held in Dubai to complete discussions on technical and logistic details to operate the Khasab-Dubai route during the upcoming period.
The meeting reviewed and discussed all the facilities to be provided to the ferries in the event of starting the implementation of the journey programme between Khasab and Dubai. The two sides agreed on the principle to carry out an experimental journey to Rashid Port to find out all the technical details that must be provided to the port’s berths.
The meeting touched upon the opportunities for NFC to take advantage of the international forums and gatherings in Dubai, especially at the Dubai International Expo 2020, which is considered one of the most prominent international exhibitions that attracts many visitors from around the world. The management of Rashid Port expressed full readiness to provide all the facilities required for the activation of the route between the Khasab and Rashid Ports.
Mahdi bin Mohammed al-Abdawani, chief executive officer of NFC said the Khasab-Dubai route is part of its regional expansion plan and falls within the framework of the partnership, cooperation and promotion of economic relations between the Sultanate and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), especially considering the growing tourism activity between the two countries in general and between the Wilayat of Khasab and the Emirate of Dubai in particular, as well as the desire of NFC to provide sophisticated transport services.
He praised the cooperation of the management of Rashid Port for the provision of facilities for an NFC fleet of ferries, especially now that the Rashid Port is in the process of transformation to become one of the best attractive destinations for marine tourism in the world.
