Oman crime: Two arrested for alcohol trade, possessing narcotics

Muscat: Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at the North Al Batinah police headquarters arrested two citizens in the Wilayat of Liwa on charges of possessing narcotics and trading in alcohol.
While inspecting their vehicle, 90 beer cans and alcohol bottles were found. Also the officers arrested another citizen in Shinas on charge of possessing and dealing in narcotics substances and also recovered psychotropic tablets from his possession.
Statutory procedures were taken against all the accused and were sent to public prosecution. Royal Oman Police thanked all those who cooperated in combating crime.
The Directorate of Customs at Al Buraimi Governorate detected a truck (freezer) attempting smuggle in tobacco inside the Sultanate across Hafeet border checkpoint. An official at ROP said that on inspection, 210 boxes of cigarette were found hidden in the freezer of the truck covered with boxes. The Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances in Al Buraimi arrested two citizens for attempting to smuggle narcotics substances.
