Oman education: Follow rules to get visa letter for foreign scholarship, students advised

Muscat: Applicants for foreign scholarships should follow a number of procedures to obtain a visa letter addressed by the Ministry of Higher Education to the concerned embassy, in a reminder tweeted by the Ministry of Higher Education on social media.
This service is provided by the ministry to those studying abroad on scholarship programmes granted by the government. The ministry announced that this service is for those who are in the first phase of their study abroad.
The ministry clarified more about the required document, in order to benefit from this service, which will take only one day to apply for. Candidates should obtain an acceptance letter from the institution he or she applied to.
The ministry also tweeted a reminder of another service, which grants compensation for those candidates who are eligible for scholarships abroad. The ministry announced that it will compensate the applicant for visa fees, English certificate fees and living costs abroad for the first seven days, to be paid in advance. The Ministry of Higher Education noted that this service will take five days for approval, once an applicant submits his application.
The Ministry of Higher Education had announced earlier that 9,638 internal scholarships were available, along with 11 new courses for this year. Targeting the welfare of students, the ministry added a number of services to its portal. The scholarships include 7,000 general scholarships for bachelor’s degrees, 500 scholarships covering academic fees for bachelor’s degrees, 1,500 scholarships have been granted for social security families, as well as for 638 full scholarship families with low incomes.
