Admission to educational rehabilitation programmes open in Oman

Muscat: Admission to educational rehabilitation programmes have been announced open by the Ministry of Higher Education, in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
The admissions at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and several universities in the Sultanate will be open for several educational specialities.
Sulaiman bin Zahir Al Rowaishdi, Director General of Planning and Quality Control said that restrictions on the admission of Omanis in the educational rehabilitation programme from outside the Sultanate helped enhance the inputs of the educational process with regard to teachers who play a key role in improving quality of education.
Approved standards
The public and private educational rehabilitation programme organisations in the Sultanate abide by the standards approved by the Education Council for the rehabilitation programme.
These standards cannot be imposed on the organisations that offer the educational rehabilitation programme outside the Sultanate. -ONA
“As per the terms in force, the graduate with interest to join the pogrom should get at least 2.3 score at the bachelor degree. He/she should also take the admission test and should meet the minimum academic and training hours,” he added.
“The student should spend practical training in the Sultanate to be familiar with the philosophy, goals and policies of the education system in the Sultanate. This will make his/her job easy when appointed as a teacher,” he furthered.
He also said that imposing restrictions on the educational rehabilitation programme enhances proper career planning for the teaching staff as it guides graduates to the majors that have more vacant positions.
“Last year, the Education Council approved the applications submitted by several universities to open educational rehabilitation programmes, such as Nizwa, Dhofar and Sohar universities. Appointment is subject to having vacant positions and passing the teacher-test of the Ministry of Education,” he concluded.
Khalfan bin Mohammed Al Ghaithi, Director General of Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Education said that the majors at which there are graduates awaiting appointment include IT (females), English language (females), physical education (males), Islamic education (females), special education (females), history (females) and geography (females).
