Several events held to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day in Oman

Muscat: Pakistani Embassy and the community across Oman celebrated 70th Independence Day of Pakistan with a series of events.
The traditional Flag Hoisting Ceremony held on the Embassy premises formally launched Day of Independence celebrations. It was attended by a large number of Pakistani community members along with the representatives of Pakistani community based organisations working in Oman. Messages from the President and Prime Minister on the occasion were shared. The flag ceremony was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and prayers for the martyrs of independence movement.

Pakistan School Muscat
Pakistan School Muscat, one of seven schools of its kinds hosted a ceremony. Mrs. Naheed Naveed Atif, Deputy Head of Mission was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Chairman Board of Directors of Pakistan Schools System Adnan Shahzad, members of the Board, members of Social Club, School Management Committees of Pakistani schools in other cities, students, parents and a large number of Pakistani communities joined the festivity with the students performing national songs and delivered speeches. A Documentary on the enlightening moments of achievers was broadcast to pay tribute to Pakistanis all over the world. Both Events were covered in local newspaper.
Pakistan Social Club
Pakistan Social Club and PIA hosted a cake-cutting ceremony in its Muscat Office. The Event was attended by a large number of Pakistanis from all shades of community. The celebration culminated with a collective prayer for the prosperity of Pakistan and Oman and for the health and long life of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin said.
Pakistan School Salalah
More than 400 persons, including teachers, students, parents, social workers, businessmen participated in the occasion and presented a colorful programme depicting the significance of the independence movement that led to the creation of Pakistan.
Reception onboard PNS ASLAT
Onboard dinner Reception was co-hosted by the Ambassador and Commander of Pakistan Navy Ship ASLAT on the evening of 14th August with an overwhelming response from Omani Government who was represented on the occasion by H.E. Sheikh Khalid Bin Omer Al Marboon, Minister for Civil Services. A number of high ranking including CCTF-151 Rear Admiral Nam Dong Woo, Commanding Officer South Korean Naval Ship. Notables from Pakistani Community, Salalah Chambers of Commerce of the Oman, businessmen, Labor Department, graced the occasion. The Ambassador, recalling the historical links between Pakistan and Oman, expressed gratitude to both governments for extending full support for making the Event successful. The Ambassador observed that such exchanges promoted bilateral friendship and provide a sense of belonging and pride to the quarter million Pakistanis residing across Oman. The Ambassador appreciated the befitting arrangements undertaken by the Captain of the Ship to mark the occasion and praised the Pakistani cuisine served on the occasion as a best example of our traditional hospitality. Commanding Officer of the Ship apprised the worth guests about Pakistan’s will and resolve in promoting peace and stability in the region and highlighted PN’s role and commitment to maintaining peace and security in the waters. The Chief Guest congratulated Commanding Officer, ship’s crew and Pakistani community on the occasion and conveyed best wishes of Sultan on the day.
