Philippines Embassy in Oman issues notice on voting for expatriates

Muscat: Philippines’ expatriates living in Oman, who are not otherwise disqualified by law and are at least 18 years of age on May 13, 2019, and who are registered overseas voters, may vote for senators and party list representatives in 2019, according to a notice issued by the Philippines Embassy in Muscat.
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information’s (NCSI’s) data, in June 2016 the number of Philippines expatriates in Oman stood at 38,309, of which 25,293 are females.
The notice stated that expats can start filing their applications for registration from December 1, 2016, with the deadline being October 31, 2018. “The 30-day voting period will commence on April 13, 2019 and continue till May 13, 2019 (Philippine time) at the Philippines Embassy in Muscat. The time of voting will be announced later,” it said.
To register, all applications must personally appear at the Philippines Embassy in Muscat for biometrics capturing. “While coming for biometrics, they should bring a photocopy of the valid passport or if they are a dual citizen, a copy of the oath of allegiance or proof of Philippine citizenship from the Bureau of Immigration; or for seamen and a copy of the seaman’s book,” the notice explained.
