Taha Al Kishry to seek another term as Oman Swimming Association chairman

Muscat: Oman Swimming Association (OSA) chief Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry has expressed his desire to seek another term as the chairman of the Sultanate’s swimming governing body.
Taha Al Kishry announced his candidature on Wednesday, on the eve of the OSA’s third meeting of the year during which Taha and his fellow association board members are scheduled to finalise the date for the General Assembly and the elections for the next four-year term.
“In an attempt to continue the good work carried out for the development of Oman swimming and water sports and the good results achieved at the local and international levels, I would like to officially announced my candidacy for the chairmanship of Oman Swimming Association,” Taha said in a statement.
“It was an honour to be given the responsibility to serve Oman swimming. Now I am confident that we will be able to continue with the good efforts and programmes that have been successfully implemented during the last period. To mention just a few the improved level of Omani swimmers and teams performance in the international events, establishment of training centres and the subsequent growth of swimming as a sport and programmes to involve nationals in administrative and technical fields were some of the achievements of the current board,” he said.
“During this current term, we are proud to have been given the responsibility to host the Headquarters of the GCC Organising Committee for Swimming and the Headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Asian Swimming Federation as well as the Arab federation office. We hope to continue this pioneering roles,” he said.
Asian event
Meanwhile, the OSA statement said Thursday’s board meeting, to be organised under the chairmanship of Taha Al Kishry, will also review the reports on Oman’s participation and performance in the 26th GCC Swimming Championships organised in Dammam from August 24 to 27.
The meeting will also finalise Oman’s participation in the 10th Asian Swimming Championship to be held in Tokyo from November 14 to 20.
