SQU launches library services for the visually impaired

Muscat: A special library called “Noor Al Baseera” for visually impaired students has been launched by the Section for Special Needs Students at the Deanship of Student Affairs at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
The new facility is located at the Main Library of the university at the Cultural Centre’s premises. The launch ceremony for the special library was held today under the patronage of Her Highness Dr Mona bint Fahad Al Said, SQU assistant vice chancellor for International Cooperation, and Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Massan, chief executive officer of Oman LNG. Al Said stated that the university takes special care of special needs students as it believes in their abilities and talent. The university cooperates with private sector institutions to support these students by providing equipment and facilities for their use.
She also thanked Oman LNG for their support for special needs students at the university and for their involvement in the establishment of the Noor Al Baseera library. She also called upon special needs students to take advantage of this library to facilitate their academic pursuits.
Meanwhile, Al Massan said Oman LNG will allocate a share of its profit to support and assist people with special needs, and the company is pleased to see these students excel in their respective fields.
