Duqm Refinery initiative to hone skills of women

Muscat: Duqm Refinery will launch the second edition of ‘Wadhah’ Initiative this week.
The initiative targets the members of the Omani Women Association who will participate in a three-day interactive training programme that cover topics such as SME startups, digital marketing, project management and customer service.
Workshops on work life balance will also be delivered. Participants will also have one to one sessions with counselors to help provide solutions to personal challenges that they may be facing. All the workshops and training sessions will be delivered by experienced Omani women trainers.
A similar programme is also being delivered to a group of 12th-grade female students from Al Wusta Governorate's schools. This programme aims to develop important life skills such as problem solving and decision making skills, as well as upskill them with leadership and team working skills. The participants are encouraged to take part in self-development activities.
In his comment on the initiative, Jasim Hassan Al Ajmi, Duqm Refinery Corporate Communication and CSR nanager said, “Wadhah Initiative reflects our commitment towards corporate social responsibility. This initiative is in line with His Majesty’s directives to support and empower women so as to be a key partner in contributing to sustainable development of the Sultanate.”
“We are also keen to build a partnership with the local organisations to design and deliver programms that build capacity of individuals so that they may contribute towards the development of their communities,” he added.
‘Wadhah’ Initiative has a vision to empower and build the capacity of women in Al Wusta Governorate, provide them with skills in project management, marketing and customer service.
In addition, the initiative is aimed at supporting women's leadership, decision-making, and team work skills. This will be achieved through a partnership with Omani women associations and school girls in the wilayats of Al Wusta Governorate.
The ‘Wadhah’ Initiative, launched last year in partnership with the Omani Women Association, is one of Duqm Refinery’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes that is designed to support all the projects aimed to empower and build the capacity of women in Duqm and Al Wusta region in general. This year, in collaboration with Youth Vision, it aims to deliver programms that upskills potential women entrepreneurs.
