The educational clips will be produced by Children First Association by the end of 2016, Shaker Al Raisi, head of the group’s media department, said. To create a safe environment for our children, they need to be educated about harassment and should understand if they are being victims of such acts.
“While some might consider discussing such topics a taboo, we believe that putting it under the spotlight will help end the crime,” added Al Raisi of Children First Association.
“While a child can be a soft target for predators anywhere, we will focus more on educating them to protect themselves in schools,” he explained.
The video-based campaign will be conducted on different social media platforms in a bid to reach across to maximum people, according to Al Raisi.
Supported by a number of psychiatrists and children behaviour specialists, the Children First Association will come up with a title for its campaign on Monday.
Al Raisi also announced that the first conference by Children First, slated to kick off on November 1 in the Sultan Qaboos University, will have the theme, “Efforts, challenges and future vision.”
Children First was established in 2009 by the Ministry of Social Development.
Recently, the group has been intensifying its digital presence and launching electronic educational campaigns. The association has around 150 members at the moment. It also provides free child car seats to families in Oman.
Recently, it called upon individuals and private companies to donate money for car seats to help save lives. In coordination with the Royal Oman Police, Children First allocated OMR2,000 to buy car seats in Oman.
