Muscat bourse reacts on profit-booking

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse reacted on profit-booking after two days of recovery. The MSM30 Index remained flat at 5,767.37 points, marginally down by 0.03 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 880.69 points, up by 0.06 per cent.
Port Services Corporation was the most active in terms of volume and turnover. The top gainer was Oman Cables, up by 2.68 per cent, while with a loss of 5.51 per cent, Port Services was the top loser.
As many as 454 trades were executed on Monday, generating a turnover of OMR1.9 million with 9.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 9 advanced, 13 declined and 22 remained unchanged. Arab and GCC investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR220,000 worth of shares, while Omani investors switched to net sellers at OMR138,000 followed by foreign investors, who sold stocks amounting to OMR82,000.
Financial Index retreated 0.09 per cent to close at 7,421.23 points. Al Batinah Development, up by 2.33 per cent, was the only sector gainer. Taageer Finance, Al Madina Takaful, United Finance, Al Izz Bank and Al Anwar Holding declined by 3.51 per cent, 2.74 per cent, 1.86 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 0.53 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index ended positively at 7,447.58 points, up by 0.27 per cent. Oman Cables, Al Jazeera Steel, Al Maha Ceramics and Raysut Cement gained 2.68 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 0.82 per cent and 0.33 per cent, respectively. Gulf International Chemicals, Al Hassan Engineering and Oman Cement had losses of 2.60 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 0.87 per cent, respectively.
Services Index declined by 0.12 per cent to end at 3,130.22 points. Phoenix Power, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power and Al Jazeera Services gained by 1.38 per cent, 0.50 per cent, 0.50 per cent and 0.49 per cent, respectively. Port Services, Ooredoo Oman, Al Maha Petroleum and OIFC lost 5.51 per cent, 1.10 per cent, 1.02 per cent and 1.01 per cent, respectively.
