Oman Air renews sponsorship of NBO Golf Classic Grand Final

Muscat: Oman Air reinforced its commitment to NBO Golf Classic Grand Final by agreeing to be the presenting sponsor of the ‘widely popular annual golf tournament’ for the fourth consecutive year.
The sponsorship deal was signed during an impressive ceremony organised at Grand Hyatt with NBO’s CEO Ahmed Al Musalmi and Oman Air CEO Paul Gregorowitsch signing the contract.
As per the agreement, Oman Air will transport the 45 qualifying golfers, their management, caddies and supporters from all over the world to Muscat during the tournament, which will take place at Almouj Golf from November 2 to 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Oman Air CEO Paul Gregorowitsch said: “We are delighted to be the presenting sponsor for this world-class tournament for the fourth consecutive year. This is in line with our commitment of supporting initiatives that promote Oman, as the amazing destination it is.”
“The NBO Golf Classic Grand Final has grown every year and has certainly been a success story which has earned global recognition. Such events allow us to talk to our target audience, who can come to the Sultanate and enjoy golf as well as the history, culture and breathtaking topography our beautiful destination offers every discerning visitor,” he added..
In his comments, NBO CEO Ahmed Al Musalmi said: “Oman created history on Europe’s top development tour when in 2013 it became the first country in the GCC to stage a Challenge Tour event, the NBO Golf Classic. We had the opportunity to show the world what Oman can offer in terms of staging a prestigious world-class sporting event.”
“The NBO Golf Classic Grand Final has certainly put the Sultanate on the world golf and tourism map and has created considerable opportunities for Oman’s international business and tourism to benefit from the exposure the event has brought.”
“We are incredibly happy to bring on board Oman Air as our official airline and presenting sponsor for the fourth year in a row. As the national airline of the Sultanate, Oman Air’s support to the tournament has been invaluable and provided a significant boost to the event, not just for the golfer competing but also for the Sultanate’s tourism and sports industries,” he said.
The tournament represents the culmination of the European Challenge Tour’s ‘Road to Oman’ 2016, which comprises 28 tournaments across 22 different countries.
Golfers at the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final will vie for a share of a €400,000 prize fund, with the top 15 players in the final ‘Road to Oman’ rankings earning playing cards for next season’s European Tour International Schedule.
After 21events, Bernd Rithhammer from Germany currently leads the ‘Road to Oman’ standings, followed by England’s Jordan Smith and France’s Romain Langasque.
