Oman Oil to support football clubs under agreement with sports ministry

Muscat: Oman Oil Marketing Company signed an agreement with the Ministry of Sports Affairs to support football clubs throughout the Sultanate as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The agreement was signed by Omar Ahmed Qatan, CEO of Oman Oil Marketing Company, and Sheikh Rashad Al Hinai, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Sports Affairs.
According to a statement issued by the company, under the agreement, Oman Oil will provide support to football teams in each governorate.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Omar Ahmed Qatan said: “Oman Oil shares the nation’s passion for football and sees it as a platform that brings people together, nurtures our youth, and instills values that inspire us beyond the pitch.
“We believe in the power of sport to effect positive change in society and by working with the Ministry of Sports Affairs, are aiming to reach out and encourage the growth of sportsmanship, teamwork and unity. These principles have enriched the lives of many and thanks to this agreement, will be able to share them with even more Omanis throughout the country.”
Oman Oil’s collaboration with the Ministry of Sports Affairs comes as part of its long-standing commitment to support local communities beyond the pump.
Over the years, the company has organised and played a key role in organising athletic activities to inspire youth in the Sultanate. Initiatives launched by the company include the establishment of the dedicated Oman Oil Football School, the Oman Oil Football Tournament for Muscat Schools, sponsorship of the 2015 King’s Tournament, support for the third annual National Day Football Championship.
