Sayyid Fahd receives Italian defence minister

Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers received on Thursday Roberta Pinotti, Minister of Defence in the Republic of Italy, who was on an official visit to the Sultanate.
After welcoming her and her accompanying delegation, she conveyed greetings and best wishes of President Sergio Mattarella of the Republic of Italy and Matteo Renzi, Italian Prime Minister to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
Sayyid Fahd reviewed relations between the two friendly countries and the positive growth being witnessed by these relations.
Conversations during the meeting dealt with horizons of future cooperation between the Sultanate and Italy, in addition to reviewing the current situation in the regional and international arenas and matters of common concern.
Meanwhile, Roberta Pinotti, Minister of Defence in the Republic of Italy expressed her pride and that of her accompanying delegation over this visit, and the opportunity it availed to closely view the progress made by the Sultanate in a number of spheres, thanks to the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan. The Italian Defence Minister expressed satisfaction of Italy over the existing cooperation with the Sultanate at all levels.
She stressed the importance of the talks she conducted with the officials at the Ministry of Defence, which come within the framework of cementing ties of the bilateral relations for the interests of the two friendly peoples.
The meeting was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs.
Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs also received the Italian Minister in his office at Muaskar Bait Al Falaj where an official welcome ceremony was accorded to her on arrival.
An official session of talks was held between the two sides. The two sides reviewed good relations and the existing military cooperation between the two countries, stressing their keenness to enhance cooperation to serve interests of the two friendly countries.
The session was attended from the Omani side by Mohammed bin Nassir Al Rasbi, Secretary General at the Defence Ministry, Maj. Gen Mattar bin Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman and Air Vice Marshal Mattar bin Ali Al Obaidani, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman. It was attended from the Italian side by Ambassador of Italy to the Sultanate and members of the delegation accompanying the Italian Defence Minister.
Later the Italian guest and her accompanying delegation were seen off at Muscat International Airport by Brigadier Saud bin Khalifa Al Hatmi, Head of the Military Protocols and Public Relations at COSAF, the Italian Ambassador to the Sultanate and the Military Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Muscat at the end of her several day visit.
