Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested two persons on the charges of vehicle theft in Muscat.

Sleuths of the Combating Crimes Department at the General Directorate of Investigation and Criminal Investigation arrested the two accused from an automobile agency located in Watayah area in Muscat governorate in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

An official from the ROP stated that the miscreants had gone to the car showroom to purchase a vehicle. They took the car for a test drive and then headed to a keys manufacturing shop in Ruwi area to get a duplicate key made.

These fraudsters went back to the showroom and refused to buy the vehicle. Later,  when the vehicle was being shifted to another showroom in Watayah, the accused stole the car using the duplicate keys.

Following search and investigations, the two accused were arrested by the personnel of
the ROP.

The ROP has advised the automobile agencies to maintain caution and to abide by the rules of the competent authorities.

Rescue operation
The Royal Oman Aviation recently airlifted a sick elderly woman from Jabal Aswad in the wilayat of Qurayat to the Royal Hospital for treatment.

This rescue operation came after a distress call made by a local citizen asking for help to airlift his wife to a hospital.

As the road network in this area is bad, the authorities sent a helicopter to shift the patient to the hospital.
