Marginal recovery on Muscat bourse

Muscat: A marginal recovery witnessed on the Muscat Securities Market, after a major slide on Monday. The MSM30 Index remained stable with improved market turnover and closed at 5,583.55 points, up by 0.04 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 858.86 points, down by 0.20 per cent.
Bank Sohar was the most active in terms of volume and turnover. Up by 4.35 per cent, Galfar Engineering was the top gainer while Al Suwadi Power was the top loser with loss of 3.55 per cent.
As many as 994 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating turnover of OMR4.05 million with 20.84 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 16 advanced, 10 declined and 16 remained unchanged. Arab and GCC investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR250,000 worth of shares, while Omani investors were net sellers at OMR162,000 followed by foreign investors, who sold stocks amounting to OMR88,000.
Financial Index recovered to close at 7,251.41 points, up by 0.24 per cent. HSBC Bank Oman, Al Anwar Holding, Gulf Investment Services, Takaful Oman and Bank Sohar gained by 2.70 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 0.91 per cent, 0.74 per cent and 0.70 per cent, respectively. Al Madina Investment, Oman &Emirates Holding and Al Madina Takaful declined by 3.33 per cent, 1.54 per centand 1.41 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.75 per cent to end at 7,198.92 point. Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramic, Oman Cement, Gulf International Chemical and Oman Flour Mills increased by 4.35 per cent, 2.48 per cent, 1.80 per cent, 1.56 per cent and 1.26 per cent, respectively. Al Hassan Engineering and Al Jazeera Steel declined by 1.54 per cent and 1.29 per cent, respectively.
Services Index ended at 3,037.75 points, down by 0.40 per cent. Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, Port Services and Phoenix Power increased by 2.86 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 0.85 per cent and 0.69 per cent, respectively. Al Suwadi Power, Al Batinah Power, Renaissance Services, Ooredoo Oman and Sembcorp Salalah declined by 3.55 per cent, 2.06 per cent, 1.42 per cent, 1.17 per cent and 0.83 per cent, respectively.
