Muscat: World renowned contemporary choreographer Paul Taylor and his dance company, who have been touring the United States and the globe, will take stage at the Royal Opera House Muscat featuring some of their greatest pieces, for two consecutive days, 20th February and 21st February, 2013. The two days will schedule different performances from the troupe. The programme is expected to remind the audience of the success that the Deborah Colker Dance Company recently had when they performed their energetic dances in January at ROHM.

Choreographed by Paul Taylor, the troupe will perform Beloved Renegade, The Uncommitted and Promethean Fire on the first day; while the second day will witness Brandenburgs, Scudorama and Company B masterpieces. The genius choreographer Paul Taylor is considered to be the last living member of the pantheon that created America's indigenous art of modern dance.

At an age when most artists' best work is behind them, Taylor continues to win public and critical acclaim for the vibrancy, relevance and power of his creations. As he has since his origins as a dance maker in 1954, he offers cogent observations on life's complexities while tackling some of society's thorniest issues. While he may propel his dancers through space for the sheer beauty of it, he more frequently uses them to illuminate such profound issues as war, piety, spirituality, morality and mortality.

The Paul Taylor Dance Company has been travelling around the globe, bringing Taylor's ever-burgeoning repertoire to theaters and venues of every size and description in cultural capitals. Since 1954, Taylor has made 138 dances, many of which have attained iconic status.

Christina Scheppelmann, Director General of the Royal Opera House Muscat, stated: "We are honoured to be hosting at ROHM one of history's most celebrated artists, Paul Taylor, who is also a cultural icon. Paul Taylor and his troupe, who have covered a breathtaking range of topics through their works of art, will reward our audience with a truly glorious experience. We promise the audience to be inspired by the enthralling effect of the sounds, rhythms and harmonies."
