Oman’s Fatma Al Nabhani storms into quarterfinals in Lagos tourney

Muscat: Oman’s Fatma Al Nabhani stormed into the quarterfinals of the singles competition in the $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit Governor’s Cup in Lagos, Nigeria on Wednesday.
In a second round match, the Omani girl played a like champion to upset the French eighth seed Harmony Tan in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
In the last eight stage, Fatma will square off against second-seeded Slovakian Tadeja Majeric.
In her second round match, Tadeja brushed aside the challenge of qualifier from Grenada, Akilah James for a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Fatma’s doubles challenge ended on Tuesday, when the Omani and her her Ukrainian partner Valeriya Strakhova were beaten in their first round match 6-3, 3-6 (10-7) by India’s Kyra Shroff and Dhruthi Venugopal.
Fatma also took part in the first Governor’s Cup last week, when her singles challenge ended in quarterfinals while Fatma and Valeriya lost in the semifinals of the doubles.
