People in Oman gather to watch US election

Muscat: Americans and other nationalities living in Oman are excitedly anticipating the US Presidential elections results, as the battle looks close.

At a breakfast organized by the Oman American Business Centre (OABC) this morning, several Americans, Omanis and others who have been following the elections were present and held their breaths in anticipation as the news channels announced the results of individual states beinf taken over by Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.

"I am very apprehensive about a Trump presidency, and sort of shocked that he has made it this far. It's interesting that he is doing well. I didn't vote this year because the state I belong to would vote for Democrats anyway. In the past I have voted for the Republicans but I was not happy with some of the stuff that Bush did.

Some of the stuff that Trump says seems very far fetched. I am concerned how a Trump presidency would affect our relations with other countries, and although she is not perfect, I am interested in a female presidency," said an American couple at the gathering.

With Trump winning some of the bigger and more important states like Ohio, Texas and Florida, that indicates Trump might win, but it maybe upto the smaller states to decide the ultimate now.

Ale Al Zadjali, an Omani fashion designer who also attended the event said, "US election results will affect everything, which is why I am really interested in knowing who will be the winner. Ever since I got to learn about the elections of this year I have been interested, we will need to wait and watch."

A mock election was organized at the event where most people who had gathered voted, where 33 votes went to Clinton and 12 to Trump.
