Oman Tennis: Fatma Al Nabhani survives a scare in Rabat

Muscat: Omani star Fatma Al Nabhani survived a scare before advancing to the second round of the singles in the $10,000 Rabat ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Morocco on Tuesday.
In the first round match, the second-seeded Omani made a shaky start losing the first set 4-6 against Moroccan wildcard Lilya Hadab.
However, Fatma fought back bravely to subdue the local girl in the next two sets before sealing the match with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 scoreline.
In the second round, Fatma will clash with unseeded Austrian Kerstin Peckl, a 6-3, 6-1 first round winner over French qualifier Anne Sophie Forget.
In the doubles, Fatma and her Spanish partner Olga Parres Azcoitia were given a first round bye.
In the quarterfinals, the top seeds will take on Spain’s Arabela Fernandez and Russia’s Ksenia Kuznetsova.
