Oman tourism: Anantara Jabal Akhdar opens officially

Al Jabal Al Akhdar: Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar official opening ceremony was held yesterday under the auspices of Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs.

On the occasion of the opening of the Resort which is owned by the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund, the Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs said in a press statement: ‘The location of the resort has been carefully selected in the Niyabat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar which is witnessing comprehensive development under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Moreover, the area is known for its diversified natural potential and unique climate compared to the other areas in the Gulf region.”
This major tourism project is one of the projects that aim at providing luxury utilities in the Sultanate. It is also a contribution by the Ministry of Defence to the efforts made by the government to diversify sources of national economy, develop the tourism sector in the Sultanate, generate fresh job opportunities for Omani youths, enhance the sources of revenues for the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund and diversity the investment of the Fund in the promising sectors in the Sultanate.
Mohammed bin Nasser al- Rasbi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence said 'The Ministry of Defence Pension Fund seeks to diversify its investments inside and outside the Sultanate in a bid to ensure good returns that help the Fund meets its obligations towards the Ministry of Defence and the Sultan's Armed Forces' retirees.
He added that the Resort is also a contribution by the Fund to activate the economic activities in the Sultanate and avail job opportunities for Omanis. He also noted that the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund will follow the same approach and will identify investment opportunities in the Sultanate.
"At the beginning of next year, we hope to start construction of a commercial complex in Salalah as the initial procedures and designs have been already completed. These projects will enhance the tourism and economic activities.
Ahmed bin Nasser al- Mahrzi, Minister of Tourism said in a statement that the Resort is an added value to the tourism sector; thanks to its components and the services provided to its visitors coupled with its unique and strategic location in the Niyabat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, SAF Chief of Staff, commanders of SAF corps, their excellences, senior SAF officers, invites and the project team.
It should be noted that Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is one of the most luxurious resorts on the world level. It is built over Al Jabal Al Akhdar Plateau, about 2000 meters above the sea level. It overlooks cultural and agricultural villages, as well as splendid sceneries.
