Winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for excellence declared in Oman

Muscat: Winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment 2016 were announced yesterday at the Sultan Qaboos University Cultural Centre under the auspices of Dr. Abdulmunim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information.
The guest of honour of the ceremony was Dr. Hamdoun Toure, former Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union.
Organised by the Information Technology Authority (ITA), the Award Ceremony witnessed the announcement of winners in 13 categories, 8 categories for the government sector and 3 categories for the private sector including one for SMEs.
The government sector winners in each category are: The Best Public Service–G2C Award was granted to Ministry of Manpower Advanced Management System. The Award of the Best Public Service–G2E was withheld by the Jury committee. The Best Mobile Service G2C Award was granted to Muscat Municipality for their Baladiyeti mobile app, while the award for Best Mobile Service G2E was withheld by the jury committee. In the category of the Best Whole of Government, the Award went to Manpower Integrated Service of Ministry of Manpower. The Award for the Best e-Participation for Decision Making, was given to Solaf programme of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection. Invest Easy portal of Ministry of Commerce and Industry won the Best Service Supporting doing Business; while the award for Best e-Transformation Achievement went to Manpower e-Transformation for the Ministry of Manpower.
The award allocated for the Best Private Sector Service category was withheld by the committee. The Best Private Sector Mobile Service award was given to OmanTel Mobile Application for the Oman Telecommunication Company. For the SMEs, the category of Best SME Service was withheld as no submitted projects complied with the award criteria.
The jury committee recommended to grant certificates of recognition to a number of participating projects to encourage them to e. In the government sector the recognition was given to 3 projects namely: ROP Supporting eGov Progress for Royal Oman Police, MOCI e-Transformation for Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and ROP e-Transformation for Royal Oman Police. On the private sector categories, the recognition was granted to Oman Airport Mobile App Oman Airport Management Company and T-Oman service for Speed Data for Technology Company.
