Muscat: A total of 3,800 people visited the Oman International Motor Show on the first day while over 5,000 showed up on the second with the last two days of the event taking the tally up to over 10,000 visitors.
The December 7-10 Oman International Motor Showat the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center received a positive feedback from the participants, according to Exhibition Manager, Ammar Ahmed.
“We had more brands compared to the last edition and the event also features a China pavilion for the first time. It went well and the dealers are happy with the turnout,” said Ammar.
“The convention center is a world class facility. The dealers had the chance to execute their presentation in the best possible manner just as they do all over the world,” he added.
The motor show attracted participants from over 300 brands, dealing with vehicles, spare parts manufacturers, adventure teams and automotive SMEs.
When asked about next year’s edition of the motor show, Ammarsaid he expected more participants and more footfalls.
“(We also hope for) more brands and more market activity. From the market point of view, the last two years were a bit tough in terms of business, but now the market is recovering slowly and we expect more brands to join next year,” said Ammar.
A unique highlight was the Land Rover experience where the dealers created a makeshift course for visitors to ride the Land Rover Discovery and experience how well the vehicle can do in off-road conditions, including climbing up and down a 45-degree ramp.
A 1927 Bugatti Grand Prix, 1980 Pontiac “Firebird” Trans Am, 1970 Opel 1900 GT and 1977 Datsun Skyline also courted limelight along with other classic carson display.
