Dr. Madiha to preside over Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature for Omanis

Muscat: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education, Chairperson of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science will patronise over the ceremony of the 5th version of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature for Omanis at Al Wahat Club in Muscat.
Ministers, undersecretaries, representatives of the Arab cultural awards, namely the Secretary-General of the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, the Secretary General of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation, Secretary General of the Tayeb Saleh International Award for Creative Writing, and a representative of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture, in addition to journalists, intellectuals, writers and artists from within and outside Oman will attend the ceremony.
The ceremony will include a speech by Habib bin Mohammed Al Riyami, Secretary-General of Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, to be followed by a musical performance by the Omani Society for Amateur Oud that contains traditional music and classic Omani songs.
The honouring ceremony will begin when Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah present the Order of Merit for Culture and Science, Arts and Literature for the three winners in the areas of translation, folklore arts of Oman and the novel.
The fields of the 6th edition 2017 of Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature (open for Arabs) will be revealed at the end of the ceremony.
The last four versions of the award were handed over to 12 Omani and Arab intellectuals, artists and men of literature in 12 fields, arts and culture, namely: historical studies, contemporary thought issues and educational studies, as well as studies in Arabic language, painting, music, photography, Arab calligraphy, short story, Arab poetry, theatre writing and children’s literature.
